VetPharm

Small-animal pharmacology reference

Reference tool — verify before clinical use. FDA-label doses are label-sourced; entries marked DVM Review Required are unverified drafts. Always confirm against a current formulary and your clinic's protocols.

Second-eyes check of a written Rx against label dosing. This is a checker, not a dose calculator — it never suggests doses.

Flags are advisory. Any discrepancy must go back to the prescribing DVM — never adjust a dose based on this tool.

About VetPharm

A quick-reference tool for veterinarians and veterinary technicians: per-drug contraindications, a label-dose Rx checker, a multi-drug interaction ("mix") checker, and printable owner handouts.

Data status

Most drug entries are built from FDA-approved animal drug labeling (via DailyMed), with the source label linked on each drug. Some entries are extra-label — uses with no FDA animal label, compiled from published references. The dataset is not exhaustive and absence of a listed drug or interaction is not evidence of safety.

Where a dose comes from

  • FDA-label Dose from FDA-approved labeling.
  • EXTRA-LABEL No animal label — reference dose; confirm against your clinic's protocol.
  • DVM REVIEW REQ'D Compiled draft, not yet verified by a veterinarian — a DVM must review before use. Removed once verified.

Severity scale

  • Contraindicated Never combine.
  • Major Avoid; combine only with strong justification and monitoring.
  • Moderate Usable with monitoring/dose adjustment.
  • Minor Low clinical significance; be aware.

Not a substitute for professional judgment or a licensed formulary. Verify against a current veterinary drug reference before prescribing. "DVM Review Required" entries are drafts pending veterinary sign-off and are cleared as your veterinarians verify them.
